Turbine Machinery Components

Gas turbine operators are frequently working towards increasing thermal efficiencies of their power systems. Increasing the firing temperatures towards the metallurgical limits and using regenerative technologies are ways to achieve this. The key life determining critical components in a gas turbine include the first stage turbine blades (rotor) and the first stage vanes (stator blades), due to the high thermal and mechanical load. Investment casting of super-alloys is therefore a highly sensitive process utilized to meet the rigorous requirements for efficient gas turbine performance and requires tight control of casting parameters. Casting can be performed for equiaxed, directionally solidified (DS) and for single crystal material blades.

Our state of the art manufacturing plant offers the following:

  • Casting and process simulation

  • Tooling Design

  • Tool Manufacturing
    • We design and manufacture tools of all dies, moulds and fixtures
    • Every fixture is checked using a Zeiss measuring machine – enabling a tolerance of less than 0.001mm
    • The following equipment is used for machining in the delivery of customer programs
      • 1 x 3/4 axis Machining Center
      • 3 x 5 axis Machining Center
      • Saws, Grinders, Polishing, etc.
      • CAD, Unigraphics
      • CAM, Open Mind

  • Ceramic Core production and Wax Modelling
    • We have the capability to produce a range of ceramic cores from a simple single cored part to the most complex cored part
    • We work closely together with scientists from the University of Bayreuth and other institutions to ensure state of the art technology is applied

  • Heat treatment
    • Solution heat treatment, stabilization and precipitation aging

  • Mechanical Machining

  • Metallurgical examination of 3rd party components

  • X Ray examination of 3rd party components

  • Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection

 

Quality Assurance and Inspection
Our quality management system allows us to provide all relevant process data and values to our customers within a 24 hr time frame. All results are retained for a period of up to 30 years.
